Ticks
Ticks
Firas Adel Hallak
I can still remember the taste of sand
Sticking on my tongue and crawling around my hand
I can still remember the smell of concern
Drawing and forcing my emotions
To have a seat and watch me learn
I will go back, the old man cried
The fear of death
He hopelessly tried
Failure and pain
Made me decide
Ringing in my ear
Forcing me to do things
That I usually don’t do
It’s invisible, but still appreciated
By many souls, hanging on moments
Controlled by some inner changes
We are all highly motivated
But still the ticks of the clock
Can break us down
We’re all sick
